Contributors: Martha Chapman, PDG, Denver

District # 17 named Silver District was formed in 1931; led by Denver AHEPAN James G. Dikeou. The district at that time contained all of the states of Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and one fifth of Nebraska - covering an area of approximately 304,000 square miles.
Daughter’s Chapters became part of the district in 1934. There were DOP chapters in Cheyenne, Sheridan and Casper, Wyoming, Denver and Pueblo, Colorado and Alburquerque, New Mexico. There was (still is)an AHEPAN Chapter in Colorado Springs but never Daughters; however, one member from the Springs was a member of Athena # 10, Denver. District conventions were held in Colorado Springs but not a lot of activity there.
Also, there never was a Daughters Chapter in Nebraska which is where I grew up. Years ago, they had an AHEPAN Chapter but it folded, they became members of the Cheyenne, Wyoming AHEPA Chapter.
(District Governors prior to 1935 were from Districts # 27 and 28.)
The Supreme Convention was held in Denver, Colorado in 2007; shortly after that is when Silver District merged with several other states.
District 19 was organized in 1939 and named Mormon District. At that time, Colorado and Wyoming were part of this district later the district was split and Colorado and Wyoming moved from the district. The first district convention was held in Green River, Wyoming.
In 1949 it was reorganized and named Intermountain District.
DOP Chapters were in Price, Salt Lake City, & Ogden, Utah; Boise & Pocatello, Idaho; and Ely, Nevada.
The Salt Lake City chapter was moved to District 20 leaving only the smaller chapters in District 19. These chapters were challenged but did prevail.
A decision to merge Districts 17 & 19 was ratified. This included bringing SLC back to its roots.
Rocky Mountain District 17 was created as it exists today.
